June 27, First Day, Morning
We gathered, Chapter members and staff, in the chapel to begin a morning of reflection and prayer. As she introduced the prayer, Cathy Minhoto (WAP) suggested that this was the time to leave behind the baggage of our daily life and concerns, so that we would be able to more fully “reflect on our life and mission in the Church and make decisions with a view to the greater fidelity to our apostolic vocation.” (Const. 55)
Rosamond Blanchet (EAP) With the help of a montage of photographs and a poem by Thomas Merton, Olga Georgina (GC) and Margaret Fielding (GC) invited us “to forget ourselves on purpose” so that we “might be able to hear God’s call and follow God in the mysterious cosmic dance” of the chapter journey that lay ahead. This was followed by time for personal prayer and reflection. Our morning ended as we gathered once more in the chapel. Olga and Margaret led us in prayer, using the words of Gailhac. “May our God
Father and Mother, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit Standing in a circle around the altar, we joined hands to sing, “Peace before us, peace behind us, peace under our feet. Peace within us, peace over us, let all around us be peace.”
