La Maison Mère
December 2008

Greetings from the Mother House!

Our new year at the Mother House began with renewed energy and anticipation. On September 3rd Maria Teresa Morgadinha (Portugal) filled with hope and enthusiasm came to join us. We were delighted to receive her.

Within a few days of her arrival, she along with the other members of the community, launched into a weekend of planning for the bicentenary of the birth of M. St. Jean. We are very grateful to Marie France who came from the Generalate to work with us. She offered many interesting and challenging contributions.

All of this information was communicated to the Provincials/ Regionals for distribution.

Jours de Patrimoine à Béziers

On September 20 and 21 the Patrimony group of Béziers staged a little production in front of La Margelle. Members of the group dressed as Père Gailhac, M. St. Jean and some of the Oblate Sisters spoke of their life and mission. About three hundred people in all attended the four presentations.

Marymount Schools

From October 10 to 12 teachers and administrators from Marymount Schools in Paris, London, Rome and New York came for input on Père Gailhac, M. St. Jean and the first community. As usual we were impressed by their openness and desire to learn from our sources.

Geneviève Fabre: New Life

Sadly at the end of October the RSCM in Béziers assisted at the final illness and death of Geneviève Fabre.

French School of Spirituality

The Mother House community as well as Sabine, Françoise, Lucienne and Dominique attended the semi-annual conference on French Spirituality in Lyon on November 8, 9. This year the theme was “Mission”. We found the conference both inspiring and challenging.

Artists and RSHM Patrimony

November brought many visitors and groups. Edith Hart and Bernadette Crook spent several days working hard especially in the RSCM mausoleum where they hung panels bearing the names of all the sisters buried there since the foundation.

 Au long des jours,

pour permettre à Jésus Christ
de s’incarner en nous,
pour porter Jésus Christ au monde, pour dire Jésus Christ
avec nos mots d’aujourd’hui.
