Pere Gailhac

A Journey in Faith and Time with Jean Gailhac

Our Community here at Casa Guadalupe Catherine QuinnAssisted Living Center, Montebello, California, are grateful to the Emmaus Committee of the WAP for responding to the invitation of the General Council to make this year of the Founder's Birthday an opportunity to learn more about Father Gailhac's life. The Committee drew up a study guide based on the two part series A JOURNEY IN FAITH AND TIME written in such compelling style by Rosa do Carma Sampaio and Kathleen Connell.

Each week we have gathered as a community to share our reflections on the readings done chapter by chapter. The knowledge and inspiration these readings of our early history, the Founder and first Sisters of the new Congregation, their sufferings and extraordinaary achievements have been a revelation to us. We knew so little before of this early history. We come away from these meetings newly inspired and grateful for the research and learning of our two authors which has truly deepened our love and understanding of the dedication Father Gailhac gave to fulfilling his dreams and expectations for making God known and loved.

The result has been a personal resolution on the part of each of us to try to find the ways and means that will help us, even in our limitations, to continue the mission that was imparted to us with great fervor in the face of such overwhelming obstacles by Father Gailhac and our early foundresses.
