Pere Gailhac

"To start is not much,
the important is to do well what we have started".
Fr. Gailhac

With this thought, we would like to express what we felt during the closing of the celebration of the Bicentenary of Father Gailhac, held in the place where the new Life Project Center will be built.
We started this celebration with a walk through the streets of the Jardim Carapina area. We invited everybody to join us and remembered the Life of Fr. Gailhac, looking at his Birth, Vocation and Mission. In the place of the celebration we were welcomed by the people and had the story of the Project told by the Children and Youth. Father Xavier blessed the ground followed by the reading of a message from Sr. Marina and her Council. We also received a friendly and encouraging word from the headmistress of the SHM School, Rita Moulin Allemand, speaking of the rediscovery of Fr. Gailhac's work, made real through the Life Project. The whole moment was shared by the Children, Youth, Families, Sisters, Friends, Collaborators, Students of the SHM School and Enlarged Family.
This celebration confirmed our deep hope in God and reassured us that an Unlimited Love in Defense of Life, will be the strong support of this new place, because no adventure can be as daring as the courage of living an ideal.

The Celebration concluded with a hymn:
"Sabor da Vitória".

ESTAMOS CHEGANDO Ê,Ê, Ê
ESTAMOS CHEGANDO Ê, Ê, A

CHEGANDO E CANTANDO, Ê,Ê,Ê
COM O NOVO PROJETO A CHEGAR

O SABOR DA VITÓRIA ESTÁ NO AR
O SABOR DA VITÓRIA ESTÁ NO AR.

Notes

The Project "Child Gailhac" was born because of the bicentenary of Fr. Gailhac's birth. The five SHM schools in Brazil prepared several activities to commemorate the 200th. anniversary of Fr. Gailhac. It was like going deep into the history… Each school had a place for the "Child Gailhac" and his house…

Place: SHM School - Rio de Janeiro
Date November, 7th. 2002
Activity: Several aspects of Gailhac's life raised the interest in the children; among them, his relationship with his family, with God and with others, specially the poor. Gailhac's person was understood and valued by the children from the Elementary to the High School. The highest moment of the project was on the 07th. of October, 2002 when different activities were presented, even to the parents. Each class presented an activity. The elementary commemorated the 200th. anniversary of Fr. Gailhac, with a cake baked and decorated by the children themselves. Each class knitted a dummy (Gailhac) which was very appreciated and loved by all the children. There were also French childish musicals, remembering Gailhac's childhood. The second grade made bookmarks with "Child Gailhac" and posters with a vision of the world today, showing the situations in which we need to have transforming actions.
